EAS Now Builds iOS Apps 45-50% Faster 🔥

Expo’s EAS now uses M4 Pro-powered workers for iOS builds and other macOS CI/CD tasks. These new workers have extra CPU cores, more memory, and a modern chip design. This makes build times over 1.85 times faster on average. If you use EAS to deploy your app, the M4 Pro workers build your app by default.

M4 Pro-based workers are automatically turned on

You don’t need to set anything up to use them. If you use the EAS paid plan, you'll have priority access to these faster workers, making your jobs more likely to run quickly. Developers on the Free plan might also get M4 Pro workers, but they won’t have the same priority access.

Pricing remains the same

The upgraded M4 Pro-based workers come at no extra cost. This means you get significantly faster build times without any extra cost.

Note: EAS Hosting, is designed specifically for instantly deploying & managing your universal Expo Router websites (websites built by using Expo).

React Native Screens 4.10.0 is out. 🚀

The Software Mansion team just released React Native Screens 4.10.0, and it’s packed with improvements that make building apps even smoother. Now, you can add custom headers above the ScrollView in formSheets, giving you more flexibility to design your app’s layout. They’ve raised the minimum supported iOS version to 15.1, so you can leverage the latest features and performance enhancements on newer devices. Plus, gesture handling in native headers and formSheets has been refined, making user interactions more responsive. The update also fixes header insets when the device orientation changes, ensuring your layout stays consistent, and there are numerous Android fixes to boost stability and performance. Overall, this release aims to enhance your development experience and deliver a more polished end-user interface.

Note: In React Native Screens 4.10.0, the minimum supported iOS version is now 15.1, aligning with React Native versions 0.76 (old architecture) and 0.77 (new architecture). This change shouldn't affect your app unless you're using an older React Native version with custom patches.

React Native Audio API 0.5 released! 💯

Recently Software Mansion has released React Native Audio API 0.5, featuring numerous stability fixes and improvements. Let's explore what's new in this version:

Support for Pitch Correction on Mobile and Web

This feature allows developers to adjust the pitch of audio playback across both mobile platforms and web applications, enhancing audio customization capabilities.

In-Memory Audio Decoding

The addition of in-memory audio decoding streamlines audio processing by enabling faster access and manipulation of audio data without the need for temporary storage.

Stability Fixes and Improvements

A significant number of stability enhancements have been implemented to ensure a more reliable and seamless audio experience for users.

Support for React Native 0.78

Compatibility with React Native version 0.78 has been added, allowing developers to integrate the latest features and improvements from the React Native framework into their audio application

That’s it 🙌
